Madam Justice Louise Arbour was recognized for her courage and dedication to the pursuit of justice in the international arena, especially for her work in establishing the War Crimes Tribunals, at the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations at Parliament Hill in March 2001. Late Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau was honoured in 2004 for “his lifetime devotion to the
pursuit of justice, peace, equality and fairness for all and for his
contribution in creating the
Canada
of today - a model multicultural
democracy”
******************************** The Association paid tribute to the “Canadian Parliamentary Democratic System of Government, especially our Constitution, our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the policy of Multiculturism, which have produced extraordinary Pluralism, Equality, and a fully empowered Citizenry” in February 2005.
******************************** Dr.
Haroon Siddiqui, recipient of the Order of Canada, the Order of Ontario and several
other awards, was recognized for “his contributions to enriching
Canada’s public discourse, and public policy, by passionately
advancing the idea of equal dignity for all groups, especially the
aboriginal peoples, the Quebecois and new immigrants. He has repeatedly
challenged the media's unjust and stereotypical coverage of
minorities. His championing of the cause of human rights,
democratic values and justice has been a sustaining source of inspiration
for those who cherish
The Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada also paid tribute to the Veterans “In recognition of their heroic efforts and deeds, their courage and sacrifices that have made Canada and the world safer for us all. Young men and women from all walks of life, origins and faiths, and from our first nations, served side by side to defend the rights and freedoms of others. They sacrificed their comforts, love and safety of home. Many lost their lives and paid the ultimate sacrifice. To them we pay homage. The courage and achievements of our veterans will always be remembered. Lest we forget”. The plaque was presented to Hon. Albina Guarnieri, Minister of Veterans Affairs and representatives from some veteran organizations.

Canadian Justice System for its Impartiality, Fairness, Openness and Independent
Judiciary".
Hon. Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, received the award on behalf of
the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper.
******************************** On October 9, 2008, RBC Financial Group was honoured for 'ITS COMMITMENT AND INITIATIVES FOR DEVELOPING AND SUPPORTING “DIVERSITY” THAT IS REFLECTED IN ITS WORKFORCE ESPECIALLY IN MANAGEMENT'. Ms.
Barbara Stymiest, Chief Operating Officer, was the Keynote Speaker and
Award Recipient for RBC.
******************************** The 15th annual Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Parliament Hill were held on October 7, 2009 in Room 200, West Block. Mr. Kevin Vickers, Sergeant-at-Arms, House of Commons, was the Award Recipient. He was honoured for his "long outstanding service to our country" and for his "efforts to promote bias-free policing and diversity in the workplace".

Honourable Peter Milliken, Speaker of the House of Commons, was the Award Recipient. He was honoured for his "distinguished Public Service as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Speaker, and the longest serving Speaker of the House of Commons".
